[edit] Kontakt Player 2

Garritan Jazz and Big Band must be installed and activated before proceeding with this update. You will also receive new serial numbers for this update. If you have already performed this update before, you can use the same serial number from your previous run through the update instead of requesting a new serial number. You can locate your previous serial number by clicking Support, Manage Registrations/Activations, and then View Your Registrations.

[edit] Why Update?

Native Instruments Kontakt Player 2 provides a much more intuitive interface that is capable of hosting many more instruments. For Intel Mac users, it offers a much needed upgrade to provide full native compatibility with the intel processors unlike its predecessors, Kompakt, Intakt, and Kontakt Player.

[edit] Getting the Update and Serial Number

  1. Click here to go to Native Instruments
  2. If you aren't logged in, type in your username (email address) and password. Then click LOG IN. After you login, go to Support at the top and then choose Updates & Drivers.
  3. In the Products drop down, select "Garritan - Jazz and Big Band"
  4. There should be a drop down on the right that says "Win & Mac". Change it to match your computer's operating system (Win for Windows, Mac for Mac OS X).
  5. Press send
  6. A box will appear that will list the downloads. Click on the "What's this?" link next to the text that says "Serial number for Garritan Jazz and Big Band Kontakt Player 2: Click the What's this/Info link!"
  7. Click on Request Serial Number
  8. Log in with your username (email address) and password.
  9. A confirmation screen should have appear telling you that the serial number has been sent to your email.
  10. Go back to the Updates Manager and click the red text that says "Garritan Jazz and Big Band Kontakt Player 2.2.3 OS Update", where OS is either Windows or Mac, depending on your computer, to download the update.
  11. While the update downloads, go to your email and check for the serial number. When the download is complete, you should be ready to install the update.

[edit] Installing the Update on Windows

  1. Unpack the Zip File
  2. Start the Installer contained in the zip file.
  3. Accept all of the default values and enter in your Name and Serial Number for the update when requested to.
  4. If you don't have Native Instruments Service Center, choose to install that at the end of the installation. Accept all defaults for that installation.

[edit] Installing the Update on Mac OS X

  1. Double Click the JABB_KP2_223U_OSX.zip icon. This will unzip the archive.
  2. Double Click JABB KP2.2.3 Installer.
  3. In the Authenticate window, enter your password and click OK.
  4. After reading the license agreement, click Continue.
  5. Click Agree to agree to the license agreement (if you do agree to it that is).
  6. Click Applications. Then click Continue
  7. Just go with Easy Install. Click Install.
  8. Enter your name and the serial number for the KP2 Update.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Wait a minute or two, depending on how fast your Mac is.
  11. An alert should appear asking you if you want to install Service Center. If you don't have Service Center, click Start Installation and accept all of the defaults. Otherwise, click Cancel.
  12. On the Finish Up page, click Quit.

  1. Start up Native Instruments Service Center.
  2. If you are on Mac, enter your password in the Authenticate window and press OK.
  3. Type in your username (or email address) and password and click Next
  4. Make sure the check box next to Garritan Jazz and Big Band KP2 is checked.
  5. Click Next.
  6. The program should respond with "Product activation successful." if everything went right.

[edit] Troubleshooting

Please make sure that your Jabb library is installed correctly. Therefore locate the library folder on your hard disk (it is located under the path you have selected during the Jabb 1 installation). In your Jabb 1 library folder you should find the following folders and files:

  • Instruments folder containing *.nki files
  • Multis folder containing *.nkm files
  • GJBB_Library_part1.nks
  • GJBB_Library_part2.nks

With Jabb 2.2.3 there are additional files installed in a "Jazz and Big Band KP2 Library" folder (the path is specified with the 2.2.3. installer). There you should find the following folders/files:

  • Instruments folder containing *.nki files
  • Multis folder containing *.nkm files
  • GJBB_Library_part1.nkc
  • GJBB_Library_part2.nkc
  • Jazz and Big Band KP2_info.nkx
